Potato cutlets “Student” have such a name due to the fact that they were most often prepared by students before. Their main ingredient was potatoes, it was from it that they were made, and not from meat. For a more refined taste, some kind of sausage was added to the potato mass, and in rare cases, cheese. Despite the fact that they are made from vegetables, they still turn out to be quite satisfying.
It is best to serve ready-made unusual cutlets with ketchup or some other sauce. If you wish, then you can make an additional vegetable salad the one that you like best.
Ingredients:
- Potatoes – 300 g.
- Chicken egg – 1 pc.
- Salt – 0.5 tbsp. l. for boiling potatoes + 1 pinch per mass
- Black pepper – 1 pinch
- Vegetable oil – 60 ml.
- Flour – 1 tbsp. l.
- Sausage – 40 g.
How to cook:
1. Peel the potatoes and immediately put them in a ladle, you can cut each into several parts. This procedure will slightly reduce the cooking time. Pour water over vegetables.
2. Add 0.5 tbsp. l. salt.
3. Boil the vegetable for 20 minutes.
4. Now crush it with a crush or a spoon.
5. Transfer the mass to a bowl, beat in the chicken egg. You can use only the yolk.
6. Now add any sausage, just cut it into medium-sized cubes.
7. Add salt and pepper.
8. Add flour.
If there is no flour and you don’t want to run to the store at all, then you can use starch or semolina for this purpose. In the case of using cereals, it will be necessary to wait a little after adding it to the mass. This is necessary so that she has time to swell a little.
9. Mix everything very well. Form cutlets and put them in a frying pan, heat vegetable oil in it.
10. Fry them over medium heat until appetizing and golden brown on both sides.
11. Remove the cutlets with a spatula from the skillet to a serving dish. Serve them to the table.
By the way, ready-made potato cutlets are delicious not only hot, but also cold. Do not forget to put a bowl of ketchup next to them or a bowl of sour cream.
